Director of Finance

Location: Remote (UK-based preferred)
Reports to: CEO
Commitment: Flexible, part-time (details negotiable)
Role: Unpaid volunteer position
Purpose: To ensure robust financial management, compliance, and strategic oversight of AuDHD UK’s finances whilst maintaining alignment with the charity's mission and values.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management

  • Develop, monitor, and report on annual budgets and forecasts.

  • Maintain accurate financial records, ensuring transparency and accountability.

  • Oversee monthly reconciliation, bookkeeping, and preparation of management accounts.

Spend Approval

  • Review and approve expenditure in line with charity policies.

  • Ensure all spending aligns with organisational priorities and available funds.

Fundraising Compliance

  • Oversee compliance with fundraising regulations and charity law.

  • Prepare for and support annual audits; update financial policies as needed.

  • Advise on financial aspects of grant applications and donor reporting.

Governance & Reporting

  • Prepare financial reports for the CEO and trustees.

  • Support the annual accounts submission to the Charity Commission.

  • Attend trustee meetings to provide financial updates and strategic advice.

Essential Skills & Attributes

  • Experience in budgeting, accounting, or financial management (charity sector experience desirable).

  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.

  • Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to non-finance colleagues.

  • Integrity, reliability, and commitment to the charity’s mission and values.

  • Lived experience of AuDHD (desired).

Time Commitment Estimate

  • Budgeting/accounting: 8–10 hrs/month

  • Spend approval: 3–4 hrs/month

  • Fundraising compliance: 4–5 hrs/month

  • Additional hours may be required during audit or peak periods.
